I am tired of the same old game drives...
Experiencing a safari from the back of a game-viewing vehicle is a fantastic visual experience not to be missed. Safari vehicles can travel vast distances which is essential when travelling in Africa. However, often the sensual adventure is lacking – the unrivalled experience of exploring the wilderness on foot. There is nothing more exhilarating than walking through the African bush.
A combination of the game viewing vehicle and the safari on foot makes for a perfect combination.
Keen to try out a different way of travelling? So, what are you waiting for?

Explore South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe on our 3 - 4 star accommodated Walking in Style Southern Africa Safari. Feel the excitement when getting close to game on various game walks in the Greater Kruger area and the Zambezi National Park. Discover remarkable cultures during nature walks and a bushman experience in the Kalahari... and so much more! Priced from USD 4189 / EUR 2990 per person for a 14-day "in-style" safari!
Tanzania with a videographer, famous travel writer and Johan!
Having lived in Tanzania for many years previously, the world renowned game parks like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater have become part of my life. Sharing my true passion for Tanzanian wildlife and culture with a professional travel writer and a videographer has been a mind-opening experience.
Richard and Don are both extremely passionate about what they are doing and very professional. It became clear very quickly that both knew what they wanted and to my surprise we all had to work quite hard on the 9-day trip I took them on. I am certain both of them were faced with a couple of challenges themselves as they hadn’t worked with each other before but Don, being very ‘laid-back’ gave Richard enough time to get the shots he needed. So much so that Don was even able to write half of the articles before he left Tanzania!
I am very keen to see how it all turned out and how both will portray the trip through their creative writer’s or videographer’s eye. I won't ruin any surprises about our adventure but, I will say that it was a great safari - the animals that we saw were beyond amazing, the time we spent talking about travel and East Africa was priceless and, of course, the many laughs we shared were fantastic.
Richard, a very gifted videographer, is currently working on the East African video which will be released later this month (and will be in the next Jenman Newsletter).... and Don's inspiring travel reports and articles will be released later this year. .

Martina on Safari - Southern Skies
One of the great aspects of working at Jenman African Safaris is that we are given the opportunity to go on safari! Recently, it was Martina’s (our vibrant Groups tour consultants) turn and off she went on our 15-day Southern Skies safari. This safari started at Victoria Falls and ended at Swakopmund after spending loads of game-viewing time in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Martina wrote 2 blogs (part one and part two) about her stunning experience, below are some exerts we had to share with you.
"... We crossed the Zimbabwean and Botswana border (the first crossing of many) to go to Kasane where we got on a private sunset cruise on the world famous Chobe River. What a highlight, we did not know where to look first - crocodiles, hippos, elephants, giraffes and buffalos everywhere. The African sunset topped it, those colours!! It was one of many incredible sunsets of the safari; and every one of them is sooo different (.....)"

"... My last night in nature, I was a little sad but another highlight was awaiting us - Swakopmund, the quaint German town in the Namib Desert. Swakopmund is popular for its adventure sports and I could not miss out on the opportunity to skydive! There are no words! A free fall from 10 000 feet really gives you a different perspective of life!! What an end for this fantastic holiday; now I am hooked with the travel bug!
Thanks Jenman! I can’t wait for my next adventure! (...)"

Thank you for sharing this with us Martina - we are all very green with envy now...
Our year-end function for 2011: Amazing Race!
Last year (can you believe we have to start writing "last year" already?) Debby, our local Sales and Marketing Rep, decided to take control and organise our year-end function:
"We started the day off with 5 teams (Red, Black, Blue, Green and Yellow) at the 2 Oceans Aquarium were we met for a drink at the Shoreline Café to discuss the rules and regulations of the Jenman Amazing Race! The official starting point was the Predator Tank where I handed out the first clue... 123... Go! The first challenge saw everyone running around the 2 Oceans Aquarium looking for penguin breeding pairs - once they came back with all the names, they were given their next clue. Off to the next challenge they went, which was to find the yacht "Ameera" (owned by Yacoob Yachts who also own the well-known "Tigresse"). Once there, they had to hoist a sail correctly... which turned out harder then it looked! They then went to their next obstacle, which was to the Scratch Patch for a hidden gem mission... this was done much quicker than I had anticipated!
Finally they rushed off to 96 Strand, which is the home of the African Gold Museum and the Gold Restaurant and their final clue!
After a quick treasure hunt they had to jump on the amazing race mat to hopefully hear the words "You are the first team to arrive..." from our Managing Director, Garth Jenman! Team Green managed to hear those lovely words and win a helicopter trip courtesy of NAC Makana Aviation! After relaxing for a bit we enjoyed an 8-course African cuisine meal at the Gold Museum which was outstanding and greatly appreciated since everyone had worked up quite an appetite!
An especially huge thanks to all our wonderful sponsors; to Renar at the 2 Oceans Aquarium, to Phirial at Yacoob Yachts, to Athena at The Scratch Patch; Nadia at the Gold Museum; Cindy at the Gold Restaurant and Lindie of NAC Makana - THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!"
